[there's this...well, there's this girl in oversized sneakers who seems basically unfazed by all of this. In fact, she's sitting down by the beach attempting to feed her crab some pineapple from the heavens. Also speaking to it like it can talk back. This is completely normal.]

You're kind of grumpy, aren't you? Reminds me of someone. Cute, though.

True...you can decorate everything, but not saying a word and throwing fruit isn't exactly the mark of a great host.

Oh! Maybe it's a cultural thing. [that...seems unlikely. She smacks a hand against her forehead.]

Woah, where are my manners? I'm Kairi, nice to meet you!

[He leans forward and crosses one of his arms over his chest, which gets his crab flailing.]

[Another almost-rant at the end there. He straightens and lowers his arm.]

[she bows a little, because that sounds important. But at the offer, she leans up on her toes, practically bouncing, and punches the air.]

Oh, are you going to explore? Sign me up! There's no way I'm just going to sit around this time.

[Her enthusiasm catches him off guard, just an up tilt of his head, really. But it's her spirit, for a reason Draven cares not to consider, that has him believe all this is real and living. So he speaks, his tone smooth and gratitude clear, if subdued in a poor attempt at formality.]

You are the first, Kairi. We'll be off-trail for much of it, and on leave I have no intentions of returning to the inn until we have both found and explored the caves...but what we will need besides food and shelter is beyond my ken.
